Don't Touch the Butt

Amber Sweet is born! In my world, she went from [link] to this. How exactly did that happen? Well... there was the eating disorder and hitting puberty which sort of began the spiral. For her 19th birthday she requested a complete makeover. Her father first assumed that meant she wanted hair cut and some clothes. No. She meant a complete make over. She wanted to be asian, knowing that her father would probably say no, she threatened self mutilation (so that surgery was the only option) if he refused. Rotti didn't have much choice.

This look is so far from Amber in the movie and my drawing of her as a kid. But I wanted that, we all go through that awkward phase of self discovery and playing around with different looks. Throw in a shocking self image problem and surgery and voila. The major thing that influence this look was the actress who played Amber in the original stage version of Repo! as she was asian (you can see her here [link]). There was also the line in the soundtrack version of "Happiness Is Not a Warm Scalpel" [link] where Rotti says "I said nothing when you came to me, asking me can you be asian". Her whole outfit, the bright colourful mess that it is, was a terrible example of Japanese street fashion thrown together with the 'scene' fad that exploded when I was in high school. I just wanted it to be quite hideous.
